Our History

Our Boutique has been a proud Maine small business since 1992. It was opened by Anita and Steve Blais, who took a bold chance on bringing something completely new to their community. At the time, a lingerie and adult boutique was practically unheard of in Maine — but they believed people deserved a comfortable, welcoming place to shop, ask questions, and explore products without judgment. And they were right. The store quickly became a trusted local spot, loved for its openness and friendly atmosphere.

From the very beginning, Anita and Steve were committed to offering quality products their customers could rely on. They attended industry conventions, learned from vendors, stayed up-to-date on trends, and hand-selected items from catalogs to make sure they were stocking products their customers would love.

As online shopping grew, something became clear: people still wanted the experience you simply can’t get through a screen. Photos can’t show how lingerie truly fits on everyone’s unique bodies, and descriptions alone don’t explain how different toys work. Midnight Boutique has always focused on real, in-person guidance — from seeing pieces up close to exploring how products work at the test table. It’s an experience built around comfort, understanding, and helping customers make choices they’re confident in.

When Steve passed in 2004, Anita continued running the boutique with the same heart and dedication that built it. After decades of keeping the store thriving, she officially retired and passed the business on to her granddaughter, Autumne — who proudly carries the legacy forward today. Autumne now runs the store with the same friendliness and expertise customers loved from her grandmother, while also working to modernize the feel and experience of the boutique.
